Apex College celebrated 17 years of its establishment with the grand event APEX DAY 2017 on September 1 in Nepal Army Officers Club, Sundhara. The event was organized by APEX Music and Dance Club and supported by APEX’s IT Club, Sports Club, Media Club, Tourism Club and Leadership Club with students involving from both the Bachelors and Masters Level.
The chief guest for the mega event, Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chettri and principal of Apex College L P Bhanu Sharma initiated the program.
The grand event featured the Mr. and Miss Apex 2017 pageant where the title was handed over from the titleholders of last year Mr. Apex Prahil Karki and Miss Apex Prativa Adhikari to Mr. Avash Rijal and Miss Apsara Thapa. The panel of judges and guests included actress and Apexian Barsha Shivakoti, director Sunil Rawal, director RK Dhital and actor Bipin Karki.
Unplugged music event and dance performances were made along with a delightful Broadway style which was conceptualized, designed, developed and executed by Apex students themselves under the guidance of Mrs. Pratigya Adhikary Senior event consultant of Apex College and Mr. Iranjaya Ghale. Rohit John Chettri and the Band, one of Nepal’s finest artists gave a breathtaking performance. The show was hosted by Krishana Thapa and Samar Aryal. Mr and Miss Apex contestants were groomed and guided by Suprava Kunwar who represented Nepal in Miss Asia 2016 pageant.
The title of ‘Most talented’ was won by Mr. Santosh Kurumbang, Miss Sujata Acharya was awarded the title of ‘Best Smile’. The title owners were awarded gift hampers from ‘The pump’ and VLCC. Miss Nepal Earth 2017 RojinaShrestha who is also Miss Apex 2014 was honored with a token of love by Apex College.
The event was not just talks and performances. APEX College hosted a fund raiser for children affected by AIDs, and the fund raised will go to Safalta HIV Sikchya Sadan, the first school in Nepal for HIV-infected children
A performance was dedicated to flood victims in Terai. Apex College, through a musical tribute to Chester Bennington, acknowledged depression as a serious medical condition.
General Rajendra Chettri commented ‘I am delighted to attend Apex day program 2017, I commend creative and innovative ideas displayed by students and faculty members. I wish our future of our country, of this college all the best for their future endeavors’
